Awesome Fried Marbles

So, I'm sure you've heard of fried marbles. I've seen it so many times on Pinterest, that I finally decided to try it out. So we headed off to Hobby Lobby, and got a assortment pack of glass marbles.

There are a few ways to make these but I used the oven method.
What you need for that is:

Oven
Glass Marbles
Pan
Bowl of Ice, ICE cold water

Aluminium Foil* Optional

Here's what we started off with.

So, its fairly simple....the first step is to heat the oven to 500 degrees. Just dump the marbles in the pan and pop 'em in. I baked for 20 minutes but wasn't happy with the result so I popped them back in for another 20 so I'd recommend doing about 40 minutes.

I suggest lining the pan with aluminum foil because my first bake, some the marbles had gotten a bit of a scorch mark. So I lined the pan the second time.

Immediately after removing the marbles from the oven, dump them in the ice(it's needs to be really cold!!) water, and wait a few minutes and pull them out. They should be cool to the touch by then.

This was the initial result. Cool...but not very impressive. It looks just like a cracked marble with a little shimmer. But....

..after a day of letting them sit, they totally glittered up on the inside. They came out awesome!!!! I've been trying to think of ideas for them, and I was thinking of turning these into necklaces and giving these as presents.

Such a simple project and I totally recommend doing these if you have the time to waste. I know my daughter loves looking at them, and its just a fun & quick, little project to do with the whole family.
